A chemical peel utilizes an acidic solution which is applied to the skin in order to remove the outer layers of skin and to stimulate the production of new cells or increase their turnover. The strength of the acid determines how deeply it penetrates and thus the amount of exfoliation that occurs. Chemical peels are used to treat photo damaged skin, fine lines and wrinkles, hyperpigmentation (brown spots), acne scarring and active acne. For maximum results, a series of treatments is recommended.
